April 5, 2021

The 55th Annual Training Conference will be held at the University of Central Oklahoma Forensic Science Institute. Currently, the university is under COVID-19 restrictions, which creates limitations. We appreciate your participation in the survey regarding the format of the conference considering these restrictions. The survey results indicated that over 85% of participants would still be willing to attend the conference in person with the provision of face masks, social distancing requirements, and no refreshments provided. A virtual format was considered but would require the content of some presentations to be altered to ensure security/confidentiality of casework. Approximately 68% of survey participants were less likely to attend the conference virtually with altered presentation content.

In consideration of the survey results and additional feedback received from members, the Board of Directors and Officers have decided to hold the conference in person under the following restrictions:

  • Face masks (cloth or disposable) required on the UCO campus.

  • No food or drinks allowed on the premises of the FSI.

  • Social distancing of at least 6 feet when possible.

  • FSI Auditorium at half capacity with social distanced seating.

Extended breaks and lunches will be provided to accommodate off-site coffee breaks and opportunities to socialize. There will also be an evening social outing at AMF Boulevard Lanes. The general Business Meeting will be held on the first day of the conference at the conclusion of the last presentation and is open to members only. Please be on the lookout for additional correspondence regarding open officer and board member positions.

Although the conference will be a little different from previous years, we are thrilled to see you again in person! If you have any questions, email okiaiconference@gmail.com.

Keisha Jones, M.S.

OK-IAI President
